Storm Damage: 4 Steps to a Home Repair

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, in 2016, there were 15 weather and climate disaster events with losses exceeding $1 billion each. This of course, doesn’t include that high-wind thunderstorm that dropped a tree branch on your roof. 

So, who’s paying for all this damage? With any luck – your insurance. Your homeowner’s policy should cover most storm damage including hail, wind, fire and snow. One notable exception: flood damage which often requires a separate policy. To make sure that happens, we talked with State Farm spokesperson Dave Phillips who walked us through the basics of homeowners insurance and storm damage.
