Project: Alteryx Inc. Headquarters
Commercial Space: 102,000 square feet
Developers: Wolcott Architecture, KPRS Construction Services, Ceiling Concepts, and Westside Building Materials
Solution Provider: CertainTeed
Solution: Decoustics Claro®
Located in Irvine, California, the new headquarters for Alteryx Inc. spans over 102,000 square feet and stands as a striking example of how architecture and design can be used to reflect both corporate identity and cultural inclusivity. The vision was to move beyond a traditional office layout and instead create an inspiring environment that celebrates innovation, collaboration, and a sense of global community.
Alteryx, a global data analytics company, partnered with Wolcott Architecture, KPRS Construction Services, Ceiling Concepts, and Westside Building Materials to bring its workplace vision to life. CertainTeed, with its expertise in acoustic ceiling and wall systems, played a pivotal role in shaping the final outcome. And in April of 2025, the project was recognized with a CISCA Gold Award for Office Renovation or Construction.
The Challenge: High-Tech Meets People-First—During a Pandemic
The primary objective of the Alteryx headquarters was to create a people-first environment that emphasized employee well-being, inclusivity, and connection to global culture—all within a high-tech, collaborative workspace. With themes rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion, the design needed to reflect the company’s global presence while also delivering a unique identity to each of the building’s five floors.
These levels were inspired by key regions where Alteryx operates—Southern California, Africa and the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific—each with distinctive architectural cues and cultural references. The space also needed to balance aesthetics with acoustic performance and technological integration, making the design and installation process particularly complex.
The challenges were compounded by the timing of the project, which began during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. The health crisis created unprecedented disruptions in communication, material sourcing, and on-site coordination. Simultaneously, Alteryx was undergoing a leadership transition, which introduced new stakeholders and altered decision-making processes.
These conditions required project partners to remain flexible and collaborative, often pivoting to new workflows and communication styles. The highly customized nature of the design, combined with evolving project leadership and remote coordination, meant that manufacturers and design teams needed to be agile and highly responsive to maintain progress and uphold the design intent.
The Solution: Collaboration and Custom-Manufacturing
To meet the project’s unique spatial and cultural goals, CertainTeed developed a suite of custom acoustical ceiling and wall solutions using its Decoustics Claro product line. These high-performance panels were designed in both white and sandy wood-tone finishes to reflect the beach-inspired theme of the Southern California-based company, while also creating a clean, modern canvas for lighting integration.
The ceiling designs featured multi-layered, direct-mount panels with integrated lighting systems concealed behind the acoustical surface, resulting in a visually striking and immersive overhead plane. To emulate a cloud-like effect, the panels were manufactured with varying curvatures and geometries, suspended across two distinct suspension systems, requiring extreme precision and coordination.
The execution relied heavily on advanced fabrication techniques. Panels were custom-tooled and subdivided in the factory to match complex design specifications. Custom extrusions and concealed torsion mounting systems allowed for clean installation lines while maintaining visual cohesion across expansive ceiling spans. Every panel was factory-finished and shipped ready for installation, reducing on-site labor and ensuring consistent quality.
The approach required collaboration across architectural, construction, and manufacturing teams, all working in tandem to ensure that the integrated lighting, acoustical performance, and aesthetic requirements were met. This synergy allowed the design vision to be realized without compromise, even under the difficult conditions imposed by the pandemic. The seamless coordination between Wolcott Architecture, KPRS Construction Services, CertainTeed, and other key partners resulted in a workplace that feels both personal and globally connected.
The Results: Award-Winning Architectural Ceiling Design
By combining cutting-edge manufacturing with custom design intent, the Alteryx headquarters stands as a model for post-pandemic commercial design—one that prioritizes people, technology, and adaptability. At the core of this achievement was the use of Decoustics Claro—a high-performance acoustical ceiling and wall solution—customized to meet both the visual and functional demands of the space.
Each floor offers a distinctive cultural narrative, enhanced by immersive acoustical environments that allow employees and guests to engage with the space in meaningful ways. The cascading ceiling systems and integrated lighting create a floating, cloud-like visual that adds to the modern, forward-thinking ambiance of the headquarters. The space supports collaborative work while providing acoustic comfort, aligning with the company’s goals of creating a welcoming, inclusive, and high-performance environment for its team.
This high-profile project earned the 2025 CISCA Gold Award for Office Renovation or Construction, a recognition that highlights excellence in ceiling design and installation. The award underscores how integrated design strategies and specialized manufacturing can elevate a workplace to match a company’s evolving brand and mission. The result is a workplace that reflects the global identity and values of Alteryx while pushing the boundaries of architectural ceiling design.
